Arch 45, Nursery Road, Brixton, last arch after London Beer Lab

Explore the world of pottery with our 6-week introductory course tailored for beginners and intermediates. During each 2.5-hour session, experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of wheel throwing and hand building. You will familiarise yourself with pottery tools and materials before diving into techniques like pinching and coiling for hand building, alongside learning wheel throwing basics such as centering and forming vessels. With weekly practice, you will gain confidence in shaping various forms and adding personal touches through carving, trimming and surface decoration.

As the course progresses, you will seamlessly blend your newfound skills, combining the elegance of wheel-thrown pieces with the rustic charm of hand-built elements. With a maximum of 8 participants per course, our small class sizes allow for plenty of 1-one-1 tuition between teachers and students to plan and discuss personal projects. The course concludes with a reflective session, celebrating your progress and receiving feedback to inspire your ongoing journey in pottery. For our returning students, the taught curriculum expands to allow for individual specialisation and further supported development towards becoming an intermediate potter.

Please arrive promptly. Finished pieces must be picked up from Earthworks studio within 3 months of the class.  All children under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.
