A love of clay and a passion for learning are at the heart of everything we do at Earthworks. So much so that we call it Earthworking - finding happiness through developing our professional practices, learning from one another, and exploring what we are capable of as artists and makers.
Since opening our doors in 2024, we have run a Work Exchange Membership programme to provide early-career potters with practical experience, training and access to our studio community.

Work Exchange Members receive one-to-one support from our technicians and teachers, alongside practical training in the skills involved in running and managing a professional pottery studio. This includes COSHH-compliant cleaning, pugging clay, packing and unpacking kilns, mixing glazes and supporting classes, as well as many of the day-to-day tasks that keep a shared ceramics studio running.
In exchange, Work Exchange Members contribute 4–7 hours of studio support each week and receive Open Access Membership, including all of the associated membership benefits, perks and discounts. Work Exchange Members also have first refusal on paid opportunities and roles that become available at the studio, providing a pathway to develop their skills and experience within the Earthworks team.
If you would like to register your interest in joining our community as a Work Exchange Member, please email info@earthworksceramicstudios.co.uk to join our waiting list.
