Seasonal Workshops

Level 0 - our entry-level taster session perfect for absolute beginners, anyone returning after a long break, or those who just want some extra practice.

Level 2 - designed for makers who already feel comfortable with the basics and are ready to take things further. This course focuses heavily on improving your throwing technique, refining your centring, pulling, shaping, and consistency, while also introducing more advanced challenges like throwing larger amounts of clay, making sets, exploring lids, spouts, and handles, or developing more complex handbuilt elements to combine with thrown forms.

You’ll work with more independence while still receiving tailored, one-to-one support to help you progress. Whether you want to improve form and finesse, explore new shapes, deepen your understanding of clay, or build towards a personal project, Level 2 gives you the space, structure, and guidance to meaningfully level up your practice.

Level 0: Sgraffito Christmas Decorations

Sunday 6 December | 11am - 1pm

Sunday 13 December | 11am - 1pm

Get into the festive spirit with a hands-on ceramic ornament-making workshop! Participants will use cookie cutters (or their own freehand imagination!) to cut festive shapes from slabs of clay before decorating one side with colourful underglaze painting and sgraffito carving. Tracing paper, stencils and carving tools will all be provided, so come ready to make some clay-merry magic!

Level 0: Family Throwing

Monday 21 December | 3 - 5pm

Get messy together and try your hand at the pottery wheel. Our Family Throwing sessions are designed for adults and children to learn the basics of throwing in a relaxed, supportive environment. No previous experience needed, just come ready to have a go, get your hands in the clay and make something together.

Level 0: Parent and Baby

Wednesday 16 December | 11am - 1pm

Bring your baby along and enjoy some creative time for yourself in this relaxed handbuilding class at Earthworks Ceramic Studios.

Designed especially for new parents, this welcoming session is a chance to slow down, get your hands in clay and make something of your own, without needing any previous pottery experience.

You’ll be guided step-by-step through simple handbuilding techniques, including pinching and coiling, to create a small, personalised piece. At the end of the session, each adult can choose one piece to be fired at Earthworks and finished with a studio glaze.

Please note:

This class is suitable for parents with babies up to 9 months old.

Your ticket includes one adult and their baby. If you’d like to come with a partner or another adult, please purchase an additional place.

For safety and comfort within the studio, babies should remain in their buggy or sling during the class where possible. Unfortunately, we don’t have the space or facilities for babies to play on the studio floor.

The session is relaxed and beginner-friendly — come as you are, make something with your hands, and enjoy a little creative time away from the usual routine.

What to Bring
Wear comfy clothes, short nails help, and long hair should be tied back. Aprons provided.

Firing at an additional cost of £10 per kg.
